				Sam was the 3rd child of three brothers and one sister, Frank (dad) was the eldest born 1919 now deceased 1988, Johnny 2nd child born 1920 deceased circa 1980 and Rachael born 1929, they all lived in South Manchester with their half sisters Lucy and Lilian.
				 Before being conscripted in 1943 Sam married Hilda Turner in May or June of 1942, I am not sure if Sam and Hilda had children? Sam was drafted into the former East Lancashire Regiment the 1st Bn King's Regiment and after completing his training was shipped off to Burma to fight the Japanese. Sam volunteered to join Orde Charles Wingate 's Special Force known as the Chindits. Whilst in Burma Sam was captured and made a Prisoner Of War (POW). I have no records of Sam's army record but I am sure he must have suffered he died as a POW in 1944. Sam was buried in Rangoon and a memorial stone shows his name. (Rangoon Memorial, Myanmar face 5). Sam would be entitled to the medals issued to soldiers which includes the Burma Star, however I am not sure if they have been claimed? Sam gave his life so that we can live our lives in safety. He married Hilda Turner, 1942 in Salford Manchester.

	 I do not know if it has some bearing on Lucy mother Rachel.
