HULL KR'S new recruit Andy Dannatt today pledged to deliver some on-the-field success for the Craven Park club and vowed 'I'm glad my nightmare Is over!'

The 28-year-old front row forward was snapped up by Rovers earlier In the summer after spending the last two seasons 1993-94 at Super League giants St Helens!

However, Dannatt who spent most of his career with Hull FC and played 68 first team games admitted the last 12 months at Knowsley Road had been one of the worst experiences of his life. Dannatt said, 'The first season at St Helens went fine and I was very happy. But then I had a fall out with the coach who then seemed to have vendetta against me!'

From then on, nothing went right. 'When you are a long way from your home city and family and friends, everything seems worse. It was a nightmare for me!'

'But Rovers came in just after the end of the season and I've got to admit It's great to be back in Hull!'

Dannatt's signing surprised many experts not least because the former Great Britain prop received contract offers from several top flight Super League clubs including Bradford Northern and Warrington. He was also strongly linked with Widnes!

However, that desire to return to Humberside and Rovers' own ambitious plans for the future convinced him to put pen to paper and sign a four year contract.

He added, 'I know I've spent the majority of my career at Hull but to be honest I'd never have gone back there not after the things they said when I left'.

'The fact I played at the Boulevard never bothered me when it came to moving across the city. I've got to say the rest of the players and the club's supporters have been great and made me feel really welcome. 'There's a real buzz at the club at the moment and with the squad we've put together, I think we'll do very well.'

'Getting out of the Second Division has got to he the priority but I don't think that will be any problem' 'I've come to a club which deserves success and wants success and hopefully I'll be able to help them achieve it.'

Its two years since Dannatt left Hull in an 80,000 pound deal which was finalised by an RL tribunal. However, the big front row man revealed he was still very ambitious. He explained 'I've got four or five years left as a player and it would be great to finish in the Super League with Hull KR!
